My Game Plan Was Excellent –Adesanya

After overcoming Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 on Sunday to retain the middleweight title, Israel Adesanya has revealed that he was delighted with his game plan for the fight.
This latest win improves Adesanya’s overall record to 23 victories and just one career defeat
Though Cannonier came on strong and determined throughout the fight, he could not get past the Nigerian’s striking and takedown defence.

Ultimately, Adesanya held off the challenger to pull off the well-deserved Unanimous Decision victory (49–46, 49–46, 50–45) to retain his title after five rounds.

022 WAFCON: Tunisia Wins

Tunisia recorded the highest win margin at the ongoing WAFCON after thrashing Togo 4-1 in Group B on Sunday.

The game saw the first sending off in the tournament as Togo’s Omolatcho Djankale was shown a straight red card with the score at 2-1.

Tunisia got off to the perfect start thanks to Mariem Houij who scored just one minute into the game.

Alexander-Arnold set to take over Raheem Sterling


Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling has started the process of selling his house to another Premier League star as he prepares to move to West London.

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander Arnold is in negotiation to buy the Manchester City star’s house located in the Cheshire countryside.

The house is said to be worth around £4.5 million.

Liverpool star, Alexander Arnold currently lives in South Manchester on the same road as teammate and Brazilian goalkeeper, Alisson Becker and former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Chelsea are interested in signing Sterling this summer after manager Thomas Tuchel expressed his wish to work with the England international.

It has been reported that a £45 million deal is ‘well advanced’, with the two clubs hoping for an agreement to be reached as soon as possible.

The 27-year-old England international is seeking a move from the Etihad Stadium in order to secure his place in the England squad ahead of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

OGBONNA: We’re mentally prepared to triumph-Falcons

Glory Ogbonna, said the team had been given all the needed Morale to win a record 10th Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy in Morocco.

Ogbonna, who plies her trade in Spain with Santa Teresa CD Feminino, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) from the team’s camp on Sunday in Morocco.

She said the team had trained hard and was also mentally ready for the tournament which got underway on Saturday.

Nigeria is in Group C alongside title rivals, South Africa and debutants, Botswana and Burundi.

“Our first match is on Monday against South Africa; we have been training hard for this competition and finally it is here.

“My expectation in this competition is wide open and of course, we are the champions and I really want us to retain the trophy and most importantly qualify for next year’s World Cup.

“The coaches have done quite a lot and have prepared us to give our best in this competition and come out with good results.

“The trainings have been quite revealing and we have also been given different game models just to come out best in this competition.

“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had also done their best, and been a huge motivation for us with their support on and off the field,” she said.

The former Edo Queens player, who said the players were united in their quest for glory, however, said the Falcons would not underrate any team in their group.

Remo Stars close in on the third position in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) courtesy of a hard-fought 1-0 win against Enyimba in Ikenne on Sunday.

Experienced forward, Sikiru Alimi scored the decisive goal in first-half added minute.

In Ijebu Ode, MFM suffered relegation after going down to a 2-1 defeat to Niger Tornadoes.

Munir Idris scored the opening goal for Niger Tornadoes on 22 minutes.
MFM rallied back with Chukwudi Ekeocha equalising in the 63rd minute.

Jonas Emmanuel netted the winning goal on 90 minutes.

Kwara United also boosted their chances of securing the third spot following a 3-0 win against Nasarawa United.

Two Chelsea Target are waiting for Barcelona – Joan Laporta

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said it clear that Chelsea target, Raphinha, was to join the Catalans instead of the London side.

He said Barcelona are ready to beat Chelsea to the Brazilian’s signature and also that of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

Chelsea came close to signing Kounde last summer before the Spanish side raised their asking price to €80 million (£68.5m).

CAF postpones 2023 AFCON

CAF has postponed its flagship competition,

The biannual competition was initially slated to hold in January 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire but the continental body, arising from its meeting in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday said they have  shifted the tournament to January and February of 2024.

CAF Executive Committee led by Patrice Motsepe took the decision to shift the AFCON initially, billed for June and July 2023, saying it was due to the concerns over the rainy season in Cote d’Ivoire.

Recall that while speaking to French daily publication Le Monde last week, CAF Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba, admitted they were considering a change in the date due to the weather conditions.

“We are considering it; it is one of the possibilities,” he said.

“We asked Ivorian meteorologists to report to us on rainfall history in Côte d’Ivoire in June and July, but also to share their projections with us.”

The Aleks  said he pleaded with his parents to flee the country after Russian invaded Kyiv.

But, according to him, his parents were adamant believing they would be fine hiding out in their old apartment in the leafy suburb of Bucha back in February 2022.
