WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons coach reveals what Nigeria need after defeat

Head Coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria Randy Waldrum,, says his team need to increase their urgency in the fighting spirit after losing to South Africa at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Monday.

Waldrum also said that the Super Falcons need to go back and regroup ahead of their second game after the Banyana Banyana of South Africa won his team 2-1 in their Group C opening game of the 2022 WAFCON in Morocco. Banyana Banyana, however, scored two goals in two minutes in the second half.

The Super Falcons eventually found a goal in the first minute of added time, thanks to an incredible finish by Rasheedat Ajibade, but it was too late as South Africa reorganized themselves and bagged the three points.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Waldrum said during his post-match conference that they intend to go back to the drawing board and work on all their mistakes.

Waldrum said, “In spite of the loss, we are still positive in camp. It’s obviously the first game of the tournament, so we have to go back and regroup.
